    The Financial Actuary will drive all actuarial financial reporting and experience analysis work for Fidelity Life.  While overseeing a small team, the Financial Actuary will have the opportunity to provide deeper visibility and create new critical business insights.  The Financial Actuary right for this role will be someone who thrives on being tactically involved, yet can appreciate the larger perspective.  If you are an inquisitive professional seeking professional fulfillment while being able to directly impact the overall health of the organization, then our culture is for you.

    Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting

     

    Expected to be 70-80% of Employee's Time

    • Be responsible for all aspects of monthly financial reporting
    • Analyze reserves for unusual trends
    • Help maximize the company’s use of Principles Based Reserves
    • Investigate and explain income anomalies to senior management
    • Ensure all financial work is done in compliance with SoX standards
    • Responsible for all year-end actuarial tasks, including cash flow testing, and loss recognition testing
    • Manage a staff of 1-2 people
    • Manage projects including coordinating key resources, communicating requirements, and enforcing due dates
    • Communicate project status to management and facilitate meetings as necessary
    • Address issues as they arise and take corrective action to assure timely completion

     

    Experience Analysis

     

    Expected To be 20-30% of Employee's Time

     

    • Run the Experience Analysis Committee
    • Prepare annual experience analysis report for each product
    • Deep dive into company’s accidental death experience
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports as necessary

    Qualifications

    • Must have prior Life Insurance experience
    • Ability to meet deadlines and perform / manage multiple functions
    • Ability to work in a collaborative mode with a wide ranging group
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products
    • Working knowledge of PolySystems software a plus

    Education and Experience:

    • College degree required.
    • Minimum Associate Society of Actuary(ASA), with Fellow Society of Actuary (FSA) preferred; also, Member of American Academy of Actuary (MAAA) is preferred
    • 8+ years of progressive experience with life insurance financial reporting and projections
    • Familiarity with life products
